A POPUP Endorsement from Morning Star Express Hotel and Hotel 224
Hotel 224 and Morning Star Express Hotel had a wonderful 2017 due to a growing relationship between the two hotels and POPUP.
We have been involved with POPUP for some time now but this year the relationship blossomed into something special. With regular donations to the POPUP kitchen, student placements for practical at our properties, site visits for new learners and most recently a class on workplace readiness by heads of departments from both hotels and a personal testimony from former POPUP student and now head chef of Morning Star Express Hotel, Herold Pitse.
This was made possible by the management of both the hotels after noticing the potential of the learners that POPUP was producing and wanted to invest in the future talent of the hospitality industry.
We would like to thank POPUP for your great work and for finding ways for our hotels to contribute. Together we have cultivated a culture in our hotels of maintaining our humanity in a very competitive market. "Before POPUP, I made a lot of bad choices in my life and as time went by I realised that time was slowly fading, so I turned my life around and decided to do something about my life and that’s when I found POPUP.
After finding POPUP in 2009 my life changed for the better. I attended the Life Skills Programme which made me realise that with God almighty anything is possible. So I started working harder and passed with learner of excellence. I got employment and worked very hard, kept focussed with the right attitude, became more and more organised with daily practice, I learned from my seniors and respected myself and everyone. The company recognised me and took me for further managerial studies and today I am proud to say am the Head chef of Morning Star Express Hotel. It’s all thanks to POPUP for helping me take the right step towards changing my life. May it not end there but continue to inspire more and more people like me and to have more companies getting involved with POPUP like Morning Star Express Hotel and Hotel 224.
